We embrace this New Year with optimism and positive energy. There are many things of which we as a community can be proud and many things for which we must be thankful.
Let us stop to count our blessings.
This year is the year of opportunities; let us seize the opportunity to do good.
We have seen some developments in our country and the world at large, and still unlimited ones to come, but yet there remains a sort of poverty of the spirit which stands in glaring contrast to our scientific and technological advancement. Our people have become cold and callous; some of us find our identity in anger, violence, and lawlessness. This is a clear sign we are spiritually anemic.
Residents we must learn from our mistakes and break free from practices and the dependencies that have made us vulnerable and weak.
When young people tell us that they don’t see a future for themselves in this country we have to truly reflect on what we are doing wrong.
Jamaica is worth fighting for.
Every citizen of our country must realize that they have a part to play.
I dare you to dream, set your sight on the next frontier as we seek to develop our community. Let us search for better solutions to resolve conflict, it can’t be just to make duppies. Let the creativity us you shine. Know that it is very ok to be kind, considerate and humane.
Have a great 2023
